| "Acorn Woodpeckers" Original Acrylic 18" x 24"
|
Acorn Woodpeckers are colony nesters, in which a family group cooperates to raise their young. They store acorns in "granary trees". They drill thousands of holes in the trunks of old snags, and jam an acorn into each hole. In the painting, part of the group is perched atop a fir snag, overlooking the marine layer, a band of fog blanketing the coast.
