Golden Plovers are long distance migrants. They spend the winter in southern South America and fly north thousands of miles to nest on the tundra. Summer in the Arctic can be challenging when a blizzard dumps 4 inches of snow. But, with 24 hours of daylight, it usually melts quickly.
