Wandering Albatross are huge birds with 11 foot wingspans . They nest in colonies on small islands near South Georgia in the Southern Ocean. They perform elaborate courtship dances as shown in the painting.
Albatross forage at sea, flying incredibly long distances by efficiently riding the updrafts off the waves. Wanderers have been tracked making circumnavigations of the globe in the Southern Ocean.
